 Gather up the kids, give mom a chance to put on her lipstick, lock up the dogs and get the car out of the garage.  There is much to see and do in and around Magoebaskloof and Haenertsburg and even further afield, our neighbour Tzaneen, offers a few interesting places as well  Whether you are a garden enthusiast, an adventure seeker or a dad who wants to show the kids what a cow looks like, you are sure to find what you are looking for.  Please do take care and make sure that you contact the establishments you want to visit to confirm there is somebody there to meet you.

Day Tripping and things to do - Magoebaskloof


There are a few interesting places to go and let your hair down. Most of these places are within easy reach of Haenertsburg and Magoebaskloof and are worth more than one visit. Go to an organic dairy, visit a mountain brewing company or just walk the streets of Haenertsburg Village with it's restaurants, pubs and gift shops. All places are marked with a number corresponding with a number on the area map for easy reference. If you want to wander a bit further afield, towards Tzaneen and the Modjadji Cycads, there is a numbered map for easy reference.

23. Blueberry Heights Farm
Pick your own blue berries from December to Mach every year.  Visit the Berry Festival in February. Have a meal at  Mountain Café on the farm.  They are open all year from Wednesday to Sunday.

Cheerio Gardens in Magoebaskloof, Limpopo, have delighted visitors for over 50 years.  These public gardens are famous for their spring spectacle when masses of azaleas, crab apple and flowering cherry trees blossom in a riot of colour.  This is one of the highlights of the annual Spring Festival held in the nearby village of Haenertsburg.   Read more...

The Reserve, near Modjadjiskloof, features the world's largest concentration of a single-species cycad, also known as the 'Modjadji Palm'. There are only a few places in the world where this specific cycad appear in such large numbers. Winding walking trails allow you to see these giants, thousands of years old, up close and personal in all their splendour.  A picnic area with braai facilities, overlooks the lowveld.

One of the largest surviving baobab trees in the world.  Although a section of the tree collapsed a while ago, it is still a wonderful sight to see.  This section collapsed 850 years ago as well and it grew back into one of the biggest trees again.  It will grow again and it is a privilege to see the tree as it is now.  It only happens once every few hundred years. Accommodation and nursery on the property.
